Contrary to what may have been interpreted from the recent published announcement from Forge about the ‘closure’ of Forge in Australia and the ‘ceasing of all operations’, I want to make it abundantly clear that the Forge Network in Queensland and all it’s current operations and staff are continuing. This has been ratified by the current National Leadership Team and Alan Hirsch.
We will be operating under the auspices of Forge International, under Alan Hirsch’s leadership and be a representative for Forge across Australia. We will continue with the grassroots work in QLD of networking, consulting, speaking and helping to ‘Cultivate and Grow the Missional Incarnational Church’.
Forge has indeed played a pivotal role in helping to reshape thinking about mission in the western world. It has given language and license to many church and lay leaders who really wanted to move their thoughts and theology about church and mission into action on the ground.
Forge in QLD will continue to consult with denominations on building missional incarnational spirituality into their local bodies along with working closely with various new missional church experiments that fly under the radar of where we often look for church to be.
The work for Forge is not finished and whilst I concur with the decision of my colleagues to close down operations nationally and in other states we really felt constrained to keep things going in Qld to see where God wants to take us next.
Thankyou for your support over the years and we look forward to connecting with you in future, serving specifically in the work of mission in our local communities.
Please note, a new online forum THE CRUCIBLE has been set up as part of this site to ensure a strong point of connection and ongoing fellowship remains in place for all those associated with the Forge ‘tribe’ in Australia. The forum is active now and you’re warmly invited to participate. You’ll find it at www.forge.org.au/crucible.
